What are growth hormone peptides?

The pituitary releases GH in pulses, controlled by two signals from the hypothalamus. GHRH pushes release up, and somatostatin holds it down. Ghrelin, a hormone from the stomach, adds a third push through its own receptor.

GHRH analogs copy the first signal and ghrelin mimetics copy the third. Used together they release more GH than either alone, which is why CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are so often studied as a pair. IGF-1 LR3 and MGF skip the pituitary and act on tissues directly.

Ipamorelin is the cleanest of the ghrelin mimetics, with little effect on cortisol or prolactin in published studies. GHRP-6 raises appetite strongly, and GHRP-2 sits between the two.
