KP-102 explained

KP-102 is the development code for pralmorelin, the peptide better known as GHRP-2. It’s a synthetic hexapeptide, D-Ala-D-2Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, that acts on the ghrelin receptor.

Kaken Pharmaceutical took it into clinical work in Japan, where pralmorelin is approved as a diagnostic agent for testing growth hormone reserve.

How it acts in research models

KP-102 binds GHS-R1a in the pituitary and hypothalamus. That triggers GH release directly and damps somatostatin, the hormone that holds GH back.

Because it acts on a different receptor from GHRH analogs like CJC-1295, labs often run the two together.

What studies say about KP-102

Human studies in the 1990s showed that KP-102 raised GH in a dose-related way and that it stacked with GHRH to give a much larger pulse than either alone.

It raises cortisol and prolactin a little, less than GHRP-6, and it has a smaller effect on appetite.

These vials are lyophilized powder. Mix them with bacteriostatic water when you’re ready to work with them, and keep unmixed vials cold until then.

The nasal spray comes ready to use in a metered bottle, so there’s nothing to mix. The size shows how much each spray delivers and the total in the bottle.

How labs use it

GH-axis studies often look at IGF-1 as the steadier marker, since a single GH reading can miss a pulse. Cortisol and prolactin are worth measuring too, because some secretagogues raise them.

Run each peptide on its own before you test combinations, so you know what each one contributes.

Freeze-dried peptides are easy to store, so ordering enough for a full study at once keeps every group on the same batch.

Mixing and concentration

The liquid you add sets the concentration. For a 5mg vial:

• 1mL of bacteriostatic water gives 5mg/mL
• 2mL of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5mg/mL
• 3mL of bacteriostatic water gives 1.67mg/mL

Add the water slowly along the inside of the vial and roll it gently until the powder dissolves. Shaking can damage peptide chains.

How to store KP-102

Keep sealed vials in a freezer at -20°C or a fridge at 2 to 8°C, away from light. After mixing, store the vial in the fridge and use it within about four weeks. Refrigerate spray bottles after opening and keep the cap on.

Store capsules, tablets and powder in a cool, dry place out of direct light, with the lid closed tight.

Label the container with the opening date. It saves guesswork later.
