Description
Follistatin is an activin-binding glycoprotein, sold by Pure Rawz for laboratory research. Each batch is checked for 99%+ purity. It’s intended for research use only.
About Follistatin
Follistatin is a glycoprotein that binds and blocks activin and myostatin. FST-344 is the full precursor form, which is processed into FST-315.
It’s a key tool in myostatin research.
Mechanism of action
Follistatin binds activin and myostatin tightly and stops them reaching their receptors. With myostatin blocked, muscle cells grow larger.
FST-344 is the longer form that gets processed into the circulating FST-315, which has a lower affinity for cell surfaces.
Published Follistatin research
Lee and McPherron reported in PNAS (2001) that follistatin overexpression in mice produced large increases in muscle mass.
Gene therapy studies with FST-344 followed in primates.

Study design notes
Growth hormone research usually measures GH pulses and IGF-1 in blood, and sometimes body composition. Because GH comes in pulses, sampling time matters a lot.
Many labs pair a GHRH-type peptide with a ghrelin-receptor peptide to study how the two signals add up. Fasting state and time of day both change GH output, so keep them constant between groups.
Typical endpoints are serum GH at several time points, IGF-1, IGFBP-3, and body composition in longer studies. Some labs also track sleep, since GH release peaks in deep sleep.

How we test each batch
Every batch is tested before it goes on sale. Identity is checked by mass spectrometry, and purity by HPLC, with a target of 99% or higher.
Each container is labeled with the product, the amount and the batch number. Email us that number and we’ll send the certificate of analysis for your batch.
Storage and shelf life
Keep the container sealed at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Label the container with the opening date. It saves guesswork later.
Handling notes
Treat it as a lab chemical. Gloves and safety glasses are the minimum, and a clean, uncluttered workspace cuts down on mix-ups.
Store prepared solutions apart from untouched stock, and record who mixed what and when.
