Description
Our Ghrelin Acetate is an endogenous GHS-R1a agonist hormone, supplied for lab research. Every batch is tested for 99% purity or better, and it’s sold for laboratory research only.
About Ghrelin Acetate
Ghrelin is a 28-amino-acid hormone made mostly in the stomach. Its third amino acid, a serine, carries an octanoyl fatty acid, and without that group it can’t activate its receptor.
Kojima and colleagues discovered it in 1999 as the natural ligand of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor.
Mechanism of action
Acyl ghrelin binds GHS-R1a in the pituitary and hypothalamus. In the pituitary that releases GH, and in the arcuate nucleus it switches on NPY/AgRP neurons that drive hunger.
Synthetic peptides such as GHRP-6, GHRP-2 and ipamorelin act on the same receptor, so ghrelin is the natural reference compound for that family.
Published Ghrelin Acetate research
Kojima’s Nature paper showed that ghrelin released GH in rats. Later studies by Wren, Cummings and others showed it rises before meals and increases food intake in people.
It’s now studied for appetite, energy balance, GH release and muscle wasting.

Study design notes
Growth hormone research usually measures GH pulses and IGF-1 in blood, and sometimes body composition. Because GH comes in pulses, sampling time matters a lot.
Many labs pair a GHRH-type peptide with a ghrelin-receptor peptide to study how the two signals add up. Fasting state and time of day both change GH output, so keep them constant between groups.
Freeze-dried peptides are easy to store, so ordering enough for a full study at once keeps every group on the same batch.

How we test each batch
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
Keeping it fresh
Store capsules, tablets and powder in a cool, dry place out of direct light, with the lid closed tight. Note the batch number and the date you opened it in your lab records.
Handling notes
Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.
Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.
