Description
Our Palmitoylethanolamide is an endogenous fatty acid amide (PEA), supplied for lab research. Each batch is checked for 99%+ purity. It’s intended for research use only.
What is Palmitoylethanolamide?
Palmitoylethanolamide is a fatty acid amide the body makes during inflammation and pain. Ours is the Levagen form in capsules, made for better absorption.
Rita Levi-Montalcini studied it in the 1990s.
How it works
PEA activates PPAR-alpha, which lowers inflammatory signaling, and calms mast cells. It also boosts the effect of anandamide at cannabinoid receptors, an entourage effect.
It doesn’t bind CB1 or CB2 directly.
Palmitoylethanolamide research
A 2017 meta-analysis by Artukoglu reported PEA reduced pain scores compared with placebo. Briskey’s 2020 trial with Levagen looked at sleep and pain.
It’s sold as a food for special medical purposes in parts of Europe.

Palmitoylethanolamide sizes and forms
It comes in one option (With Levagen Capsules – 300mg per capsule/60ct/18g), priced at $43.60.
How labs use it
Labs working with supplements often run them in cell culture or animal diets, keeping the base diet identical between groups so the only difference is the added nutrient.
Record the form used, such as glycinate versus oxide for magnesium, because absorption differs between forms.
Keep the rest of the diet steady during a nutrient study. Changes in food intake can swamp a small supplement effect.

Purity and batch testing
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
Storage and shelf life
Store capsules, tablets and powder in a cool, dry place out of direct light, with the lid closed tight. Write the date you opened or mixed it on the label, so anyone else in the lab knows how old it is.
Working with it safely
Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.
Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.
Often ordered alongside
- Magnesium Glycinate: Magnesium glycinate is magnesium bound to two glycine molecules.
- SAM-e Powder: SAM-e (S-adenosyl-L-methionine) is made from methionine and ATP and is the main methyl donor in cells.
