Description
Pure Rawz N-Acetyl-Cysteine Ethyl Ester is a cell-permeable NAC derivative, available as a powder. Every batch is tested for 99% purity or better, and it’s sold for laboratory research only.
What is N-Acetyl-Cysteine Ethyl Ester?
N-acetyl-cysteine ethyl ester, or NACET, is NAC with an ethyl ester added. That makes it much more fat-soluble.
It was developed to get more cysteine into cells than standard NAC.
How it works
Inside cells, esterases remove the ethyl group, releasing NAC, which gives up cysteine for glutathione synthesis. Glutathione is the main antioxidant in cells.
The ester is what lets it cross membranes easily.
N-Acetyl-Cysteine Ethyl Ester research
Giustarini and colleagues reported in 2012 that NACET raised glutathione in rat tissues much more than NAC, and crossed into the brain.
Human data are limited.
The primary literature is on PubMed. Here’s a search to start from.
Choosing your option
There are 2 ways to buy it, from $42.07 to $87.99:
- Powder, 10g: $42.07
- Powder, 20g: $87.99
The powder is the bulk form, for labs that weigh their own amounts. Use a milligram scale for accuracy.
Study design notes
Labs working with supplements often run them in cell culture or animal diets, keeping the base diet identical between groups so the only difference is the added nutrient.
Record the form used, such as glycinate versus oxide for magnesium, because absorption differs between forms.
Keep the rest of the diet steady during a nutrient study. Changes in food intake can swamp a small supplement effect.

How we test each batch
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
Keeping it fresh
Keep the container sealed at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Write the date you opened or mixed it on the label, so anyone else in the lab knows how old it is.
Working with it safely
Wear gloves and eye protection when you open or measure it, and work on a clean surface.
Label everything you prepare, keep it away from food areas, and follow your lab’s rules for disposing of sharps and chemical waste.
Before you start
- a milligram scale, since powder has to be weighed
- a suitable solvent if you’re making your own solution, such as DMSO or propylene glycol
