Description

Pure Rawz ISRIB is an integrated stress response inhibitor, available as a powder. It’s tested to 99% purity or higher and sold strictly for lab research.

ISRIB explained

ISRIB (integrated stress response inhibitor) is a small molecule found at UCSF in Peter Walter’s lab. It stabilises eIF2B so protein synthesis carries on even when the stress response is switched on.

The trans isomer is the active one.

Mechanism of action

ISRIB stabilizes eIF2B, a protein needed to start making new proteins. During stress, cells shut eIF2B down through the integrated stress response, and ISRIB reverses that block.

In mice, that restored memory formation after brain injury and in aging.

Published ISRIB research

Sidrauski and colleagues reported in eLife (2013) that ISRIB improved memory in mice.

Later studies found it restored memory after brain injury and in aged mice.

Choosing your option

This listing is 500mg of powder for $61.78.

The powder is the bulk form, for labs that weigh their own amounts. Use a milligram scale for accuracy.

Using ISRIB in the lab

Nootropic research usually uses memory and learning tests in rodents, such as maze tasks, object recognition or fear conditioning, along with markers like BDNF or receptor binding.

Behavioral tests are sensitive to handling and time of day, so labs keep both constant and score results blind. A vehicle group run on the same day is the most useful control.

Cognition studies mostly score behavior, such as maze learning or object recognition. Many also measure something in brain tissue afterwards, like BDNF or acetylcholine.

How we test each batch

Every batch is tested before it goes on sale. Identity is checked by mass spectrometry, and purity by HPLC, with a target of 99% or higher.

Each container is labeled with the product, the amount and the batch number. Email us that number and we’ll send the certificate of analysis for your batch.

Keeping it fresh

Store capsules, tablets and powder in a cool, dry place out of direct light, with the lid closed tight. Note the batch number and the date you opened it in your lab records.

Handling notes

Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.

Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.

What you’ll need

  • a milligram scale, since powder has to be weighed
  • a suitable solvent if you’re making your own solution, such as DMSO or propylene glycol
