Description
Pure Rawz PRL-8-53 is a phenylethylamine derivative, available as a liquid and a powder. Every batch is tested for 99% purity or better, and it’s sold for laboratory research only.
What is PRL-8-53?
PRL-8-53 (CAS 51352-88-6) is a methyl benzoate derivative synthesised by Nikolaus Hansl at Creighton University in the 1970s.
Its mechanism isn’t well understood.
How it works
PRL-8-53’s mechanism isn’t well defined. Hansl’s early work suggested it raised acetylcholine activity and modestly increased dopamine.
The single small human study from 1978 hasn’t been repeated.
Published PRL-8-53 research
Hansl and Mead reported one small human trial in 1978 that found better recall of word lists.
There haven’t been follow-up studies.

PRL-8-53 sizes and forms
Choose the option that fits your study:
- Liquid, 30ml/33mg per ml/1000mg: $92.36
- Powder, 1g: $57.37
The liquid comes in a glass dropper bottle at a stated concentration per mL, so every draw is easy to calculate.
Powder suits labs that want to make their own solutions or capsules. Weigh it on a milligram scale.
How labs use it
Nootropic research usually uses memory and learning tests in rodents, such as maze tasks, object recognition or fear conditioning, along with markers like BDNF or receptor binding.
Behavioral tests are sensitive to handling and time of day, so labs keep both constant and score results blind. A vehicle group run on the same day is the most useful control.
Cognition studies mostly score behavior, such as maze learning or object recognition. Many also measure something in brain tissue afterwards, like BDNF or acetylcholine.
Measuring the liquid
At 33mg per mL, every 1mL holds 33mg and every 0.1mL holds 3.3mg. A graduated 1mL dropper or syringe makes those measures accurate.
PRL-8-53 product details
- Compound: PRL-8-53
- Class: phenylethylamine derivative
- Forms: liquid and powder
- Options: 2 sizes and forms
- Purity: 99% or higher, verified by first- and third-party testing
- Use: laboratory research only
Quality and testing
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
How to store PRL-8-53
Keep the container sealed at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Keep the bottle capped, upright and out of direct sunlight at room temperature unless the label says otherwise.
Write the date you opened or mixed it on the label, so anyone else in the lab knows how old it is.
Working with it safely
Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.
Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.
Before you start
- a graduated 1mL dropper or syringe for accurate volumes
- a milligram scale, since powder has to be weighed
- a suitable solvent if you’re making your own solution, such as DMSO or propylene glycol

- Melts Brain-Fuel Dissolving Strips: Melts Brain-Fuel strips combine paraxanthine, L-theanine, Alpha-GPC and B vitamins in a thin film that dissolves on the tongue.
- Idebenone Powder: Idebenone is a synthetic analog of coenzyme Q10 with a shorter tail, first developed by Takeda.
- ISRIB: ISRIB (integrated stress response inhibitor) is a small molecule found at UCSF in Peter Walter’s lab.
- MIF-1: MIF-1 is the tripeptide Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2, cut from the tail of oxytocin.
