Description
Bemethyl is an actoprotector, and Pure Rawz sells it as capsules and a powder. Each batch is checked for 99%+ purity. It’s intended for research use only.
Bemethyl explained
Bemethyl (bemitil, 2-ethylthiobenzimidazole) is a synthetic actoprotector developed in the Soviet Union in the 1970s. Actoprotectors were meant to raise physical endurance without stimulating the nervous system.
It was used by Soviet athletes and military personnel.
Mechanism of action
Bemethyl is thought to raise protein synthesis in the liver and muscle and to support glycogen recovery, which is the basis of the Soviet actoprotector idea.
It’s also described as an antioxidant. Detailed modern pharmacology is limited.
Bemethyl research
Russian studies describe improved work capacity and faster recovery under heavy physical load, linked to increased protein synthesis.
It’s on the WADA monitoring list.

Bemethyl sizes and forms
Choose the option that fits your study:
- Capsules, 250mg per capsule/30ct/7.5g: $72.13
- Powder, 10g: $78.69
The capsules are pre-filled, so each one has the same amount. The size option lists it per capsule.
The powder is the bulk form, for labs that weigh their own amounts. Use a milligram scale for accuracy.
How labs use it
Nootropic research usually uses memory and learning tests in rodents, such as maze tasks, object recognition or fear conditioning, along with markers like BDNF or receptor binding.
Behavioral tests are sensitive to handling and time of day, so labs keep both constant and score results blind. A vehicle group run on the same day is the most useful control.
Cognition studies mostly score behavior, such as maze learning or object recognition. Many also measure something in brain tissue afterwards, like BDNF or acetylcholine.
Bemethyl product details
- Compound: Bemethyl
- Also known as: bemitil
- Class: actoprotector
- Forms: capsules and powder
- Options: 2 sizes and forms
- Purity: 99% or higher, verified by first- and third-party testing
- Use: laboratory research only
How we test each batch
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
Storage and shelf life
Store capsules, tablets and powder in a cool, dry place out of direct light, with the lid closed tight. Write the date you opened or mixed it on the label, so anyone else in the lab knows how old it is.
Safe handling
Treat it as a lab chemical. Gloves and safety glasses are the minimum, and a clean, uncluttered workspace cuts down on mix-ups.
Store prepared solutions apart from untouched stock, and record who mixed what and when.
What you’ll need
- a milligram scale, since powder has to be weighed
- a suitable solvent if you’re making your own solution, such as DMSO or propylene glycol
