Fladrafinil explained

Fladrafinil (CRL-40,941, also called fluorafinil) is a bis-fluorinated version of adrafinil, made by Lafon Laboratories in France in the 1970s. Like adrafinil, it’s thought to act partly through conversion to a modafinil-like metabolite.

It was never brought to market.

How it acts in research models

Modafinil-type compounds weakly block the dopamine transporter, which raises dopamine in parts of the brain, and they increase activity in the orexin and histamine systems that keep the brain awake.

Their effects are milder and longer-lasting than classic stimulants such as amphetamine.

What’s known comes mostly from Lafon’s patents, which describe wakefulness effects in animals and less aggression than related compounds.

Using Fladrafinil in the lab
