About RU-58841
RU58841 (PSK-3841) is a nonsteroidal androgen receptor antagonist designed for topical use. It was developed by Roussel Uclaf in the 1990s.

How it works
RU58841 blocks the androgen receptor in the scalp, stopping DHT from shrinking hair follicles. It’s designed to stay in the skin and break down before reaching the blood in large amounts.
It’s an antagonist, not a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, so DHT levels don’t change.

Pan and colleagues reported in 1998 that it increased hair growth in stump-tailed macaques.
