Description
EPO is an erythropoiesis-stimulating glycoprotein hormone, sold by Pure Rawz for laboratory research. Every batch is tested for 99% purity or better, and it’s sold for laboratory research only.
About EPO
Erythropoietin is a 165-amino-acid glycoprotein hormone made mainly in the kidney. It tells the bone marrow to produce red blood cells.
Recombinant EPO (epoetin alfa) has been approved since 1989 for anemia in kidney disease. It’s also one of the best-known substances on the WADA prohibited list.
How it works
EPO binds the EPO receptor on red blood cell precursors and activates JAK2-STAT5 signaling. That keeps the precursors alive and pushes them to divide and mature.
The receptor also sits on other tissues, and a second receptor complex with the beta common receptor is thought to explain the protective effects seen in nerve and heart models.
What studies say about EPO
Eschbach and colleagues reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1987 that recombinant EPO corrected anemia in dialysis patients.
Later research looked at EPO’s effects outside the blood, including neuroprotection and tissue protection in injury models, which led to non-erythropoietic derivatives such as ARA-290.

Choosing your option
It comes in one option (3000iu), priced at $42.98.
Using EPO in the lab
These are approved-drug reference compounds sold for research, such as receptor and enzyme studies, assay development and comparison against newer molecules. Their pharmacology is well documented, which makes them useful as positive controls.
Because their actions are well known, labs often use them to check that an assay or model is working before testing an unknown compound.
Endpoints follow the drug’s known pharmacology: blood pressure and heart rate for cardiovascular compounds, receptor binding or enzyme activity for assay work, or the specific tissue response the drug is known for.

Purity and batch testing
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
Storage and shelf life
Keep the container sealed at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Write the date you opened or mixed it on the label, so anyone else in the lab knows how old it is.
Handling notes
Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.
Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.
