Description
Our L-Arginine Base is a semi-essential amino acid (nitric oxide precursor), supplied as a powder. It’s tested to 99% purity or higher and sold strictly for lab research.
About L-Arginine Base
L-arginine is an amino acid the body uses to make proteins, nitric oxide, creatine and urea. This is the free base form.
Most people make enough, but needs rise during growth and illness.
How it works
Nitric oxide synthase enzymes turn arginine into nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels. Arginine also feeds the urea cycle and stimulates GH release at high levels.
Gut and liver arginase breaks much of it down before it reaches the blood.
Published L-Arginine Base research
Research covers blood vessel function, blood pressure and exercise. Studies have found blood vessel benefits in some groups, but performance results are mixed.
Citrulline often raises blood arginine more than arginine itself.
The primary literature is on PubMed. Here’s a search to start from.
Options and prices
This listing is 10g of powder for $6.55.
Powder suits labs that want to make their own solutions or capsules. Weigh it on a milligram scale.
Study design notes
Labs working with supplements often run them in cell culture or animal diets, keeping the base diet identical between groups so the only difference is the added nutrient.
Record the form used, such as glycinate versus oxide for magnesium, because absorption differs between forms.
Keep the rest of the diet steady during a nutrient study. Changes in food intake can swamp a small supplement effect.

Purity and batch testing
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
Storage and shelf life
Keep the container sealed at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Label the container with the opening date. It saves guesswork later.
Working with it safely
Wear gloves and eye protection when you open or measure it, and work on a clean surface.
Label everything you prepare, keep it away from food areas, and follow your lab’s rules for disposing of sharps and chemical waste.
Before you start
- a milligram scale, since powder has to be weighed
- a suitable solvent if you’re making your own solution, such as DMSO or propylene glycol
