Description
PQQ is a redox cofactor, and Pure Rawz sells it as tablets and a powder. Every batch is tested for 99% purity or better, and it’s sold for laboratory research only.
PQQ explained
PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone) is a redox cofactor first found in bacteria. It’s present in small amounts in foods like kiwi, parsley and natto.
It’s sold here as the disodium salt.
Mechanism of action
PQQ activates PGC-1alpha through CREB signaling, which drives the growth of new mitochondria. It’s also a strong antioxidant that can cycle through many redox reactions.
Rodents raised on PQQ-free diets had fewer mitochondria, which is why it’s studied as a possible nutrient.
Published PQQ research
Chowanadisai and colleagues reported in 2010 that PQQ stimulated mitochondrial biogenesis in mouse cells.
Small human studies looked at inflammation and cognition.
The primary literature is on PubMed. Here’s a search to start from.
Options and prices
Choose the option that fits your study:
- Tablets, 25mg per tablet/60ct/1.5g: $133.90
- Powder, 1g: $11.45
- Powder, 2g: $18.57
Each tablet holds the same measured amount, which the size option spells out.
Powder suits labs that want to make their own solutions or capsules. Weigh it on a milligram scale.
How labs use it
Nutrient research usually measures blood levels of the nutrient itself first, then the downstream markers, such as NAD+ levels, homocysteine, glutathione or inflammatory markers.
Baseline status matters a lot. Effects are usually larger in subjects that start out low, so measure it before exposure begins.
Keep the rest of the diet steady during a nutrient study. Changes in food intake can swamp a small supplement effect.
PQQ product details
- Compound: PQQ
- Class: redox cofactor
- Forms: tablets and powder
- Options: 3 sizes and forms
- Purity: 99% or higher, verified by first- and third-party testing
- Use: laboratory research only
How we test each batch
Every batch is tested before it goes on sale. Identity is checked by mass spectrometry, and purity by HPLC, with a target of 99% or higher.
Each container is labeled with the product, the amount and the batch number. Email us that number and we’ll send the certificate of analysis for your batch.
Storage and shelf life
Keep the container sealed at room temperature, away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Label the container with the opening date. It saves guesswork later.
Safe handling
Wear gloves and eye protection when you open or measure it, and work on a clean surface.
Label everything you prepare, keep it away from food areas, and follow your lab’s rules for disposing of sharps and chemical waste.
What you’ll need
- a milligram scale, since powder has to be weighed
- a suitable solvent if you’re making your own solution, such as DMSO or propylene glycol
