What is Honokiol?

Honokiol is a lignan from the bark of Magnolia officinalis and other magnolias. Ours is 98% pure.

Magnolia bark has a long history in Chinese and Japanese medicine for anxiety and sleep.

How it works

Honokiol enhances GABA-A receptor activity, which explains its calming effects in animals. It also activates SIRT3 in mitochondria and blocks several cancer signaling pathways in culture.

Honokiol research

Lab studies report anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. Pillai and colleagues reported in 2015 that honokiol activated SIRT3 and protected mouse hearts from enlargement.
