What is Idebenone?

Idebenone is a synthetic analog of coenzyme Q10 with a shorter tail, first developed by Takeda. It can carry electrons past complex I in the mitochondrial chain.

How it works

Idebenone carries electrons in the mitochondria and can pass them directly to complex III, skipping a damaged complex I. It’s also an antioxidant.
