Description
Our HMG is a human menopausal gonadotropin, supplied as freeze-dried vials and a nasal spray. It’s tested to 99% purity or higher and sold strictly for lab research.
What is HMG?
Human menopausal gonadotropin is a mix of FSH and LH purified from the urine of postmenopausal women, whose levels of both hormones are high. Standard preparations hold 75 IU of each per vial.
It’s been used in fertility treatment since the 1960s, under names such as menotropins.
How it acts in research models
The FSH part acts on FSH receptors in the ovary and testis and drives follicle growth and sperm production. The LH part acts on LH receptors and supports steroid hormone production.
Because it carries both activities, it’s used in research where both receptors need to be stimulated together.
What studies say about HMG
HMG was the first gonadotropin preparation used for ovarian stimulation, and much of what’s known about follicle development in IVF comes from it.
Recombinant FSH has replaced it in many settings, but HMG is still used when LH activity is wanted.

Options and prices
Choose the option that fits your study:
- Peptide, 75IU: $69.68
- Peptide, 75IU + Reconstitution Solution: $82.61
- Peptide, 150IU + Reconstitution Solution: $149.50
- Nasal Spray, 75IU: $78.40
These vials are lyophilized powder. Mix them with bacteriostatic water when you’re ready to work with them, and keep unmixed vials cold until then.
The nasal spray comes ready to use in a metered bottle, so there’s nothing to mix. The size shows how much each spray delivers and the total in the bottle.
Study design notes
Research on hormone support compounds usually measures LH, FSH, testosterone, estradiol and SHBG, often during recovery after androgen exposure. Timing of blood draws matters because these hormones change through the day.
Aromatase inhibitors, SERMs and gonadotropin-type compounds act at different points in the hormone axis, so studies often compare them directly.
Draw blood at the same time of day for every sample, since testosterone and LH follow a daily rhythm.
HMG at a glance
- Compound: HMG
- Also known as: menotropins
- Class: human menopausal gonadotropin
- Forms: peptide vial and nasal spray
- Options: 4 sizes and forms
- Purity: 99% or higher, verified by first- and third-party testing
- Use: laboratory research only
Purity and batch testing
We test each batch for identity and purity before it ships, using HPLC and mass spectrometry, with independent third-party checks on top of our own.
The batch number on the label matches the certificate of analysis. If your lab keeps paperwork on file, ask us for it and we’ll email it over.
How to store HMG
Keep sealed vials in a freezer at -20°C or a fridge at 2 to 8°C, away from light. After mixing, store the vial in the fridge and use it within about four weeks. Refrigerate spray bottles after opening and keep the cap on.
Write the date you opened or mixed it on the label, so anyone else in the lab knows how old it is.
Safe handling
Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.
Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.
What you’ll need
- Bacteriostatic Water for reconstitution, or Sterile Water if you’ll use the whole vial at once
- sterile insulin-type syringes or pipettes for measuring
- alcohol swabs for the vial stopper

HMG FAQ
What do I mix it with?
Most labs use sterile bacteriostatic water. Add it slowly down the side of the vial and swirl gently until the powder dissolves. Don’t shake it.
How should I store it?
Follow the storage section above. In short: cold and dark for freeze-dried vials, room temperature and dry for capsules, tablets, powders and liquids, unless the label says otherwise.
What forms does it come in?
Freeze-dried vials and a nasal spray. Pick the one you want from the dropdown on this page.
Is HMG in stock?
Yes. It’s in stock and ships from our warehouse after your order clears.
Does it come with a certificate of analysis?
Yes. Every batch is tested, and we’ll email the certificate of analysis for your batch number on request.
Can it be used in people or animals?
No. It’s sold for laboratory research only and isn’t approved for human or veterinary use.
