Description
Pure Rawz Magnesium L-Threonate is a magnesium salt. It’s tested to 99% purity or higher and sold strictly for lab research.
About Magnesium L-Threonate
Magnesium L-threonate is magnesium bound to L-threonic acid, a vitamin C metabolite. It was developed at MIT to raise magnesium levels in the brain.
It’s sold as Magtein.
How it works
Magnesium L-threonate raises magnesium inside neurons more than other forms, according to the MIT studies by Guosong Liu’s group. More magnesium strengthens NMDA receptor-dependent synaptic plasticity.
That’s the basis for its use in memory research.
Magnesium L-Threonate research
Slutsky and colleagues reported in Neuron (2010) that it raised brain magnesium and improved memory in rats.
A small human trial followed in 2016.

Choosing your option
Choose the option that fits your study:
- 144mg per capsule/90ct/12.96g: $39.98
- 144mg per capsule/180ct/25.92g: $69.47
Study design notes
Nootropic research usually uses memory and learning tests in rodents, such as maze tasks, object recognition or fear conditioning, along with markers like BDNF or receptor binding.
Behavioral tests are sensitive to handling and time of day, so labs keep both constant and score results blind. A vehicle group run on the same day is the most useful control.
Test a range of amounts if you can. Many cognition compounds have an inverted-U response, where too much works worse than a moderate amount.
Magnesium L-Threonate product details
- Compound: Magnesium L-threonate
- Class: magnesium salt

How we test each batch
Every batch is tested before it goes on sale. Identity is checked by mass spectrometry, and purity by HPLC, with a target of 99% or higher.
Each container is labeled with the product, the amount and the batch number. Email us that number and we’ll send the certificate of analysis for your batch.
Keeping it fresh
Store capsules, tablets and powder in a cool, dry place out of direct light, with the lid closed tight. Note the batch number and the date you opened it in your lab records.
Handling notes
Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.
Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.
