Description
Our Cortagen is a synthetic tetrapeptide bioregulator, supplied for lab research. It’s tested to 99% purity or higher and sold strictly for lab research.
What is Cortagen?
Cortagen is the tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro, designed by Khavinson’s group from analysis of the brain peptide complex cortexin.
It’s one of the Russian bioregulator peptides.
How it acts in research models
Khavinson’s group proposes that these very short peptides enter cells and bind specific DNA sequences or histone proteins, nudging gene expression in the tissue they’re named for. In cell culture that shows up as changes in protein synthesis and cell aging markers.
This model comes mostly from one research group and hasn’t been widely replicated, so measure your own tissue markers and run a vehicle control.
What studies say about Cortagen
Russian studies report effects on nerve regeneration in rats and on gene expression in cell cultures.
Published data are mostly from one research group.

How labs use it
Bioregulator peptides are mostly studied in cell culture and in older animals, looking at gene expression, protein synthesis or tissue-specific markers. Most of the published work comes from Vladimir Khavinson’s group in Saint Petersburg.
Because independent replication is limited, labs that work with them tend to include a scrambled-sequence or vehicle control and measure their own markers instead of relying on earlier reports.
Endpoints in this field are usually molecular: expression of tissue-specific genes, markers of cell aging such as p16, telomere length, or protein synthesis rates in cultured cells.
Cortagen product details

Quality and testing
Every batch is tested before it goes on sale. Identity is checked by mass spectrometry, and purity by HPLC, with a target of 99% or higher.
Each container is labeled with the product, the amount and the batch number. Email us that number and we’ll send the certificate of analysis for your batch.
Keeping it fresh
Store capsules, tablets and powder in a cool, dry place out of direct light, with the lid closed tight. Label the container with the opening date. It saves guesswork later.
Safe handling
Handle it the way you’d handle any research chemical: gloves, eye protection and a clean bench. Don’t eat or drink where you work with it.
Keep it out of reach of anyone who isn’t trained, and dispose of used syringes, vials and wipes according to your lab’s waste rules.
