About Pregnanolone
Pregnanolone is a neurosteroid made from progesterone. It’s a close relative of allopregnanolone and, like it, acts on GABA-A receptors in the brain.

Mechanism of action
Pregnanolone is a positive allosteric modulator of GABA-A receptors, which means it makes them respond more strongly to GABA. More GABA activity calms neural firing.
