What is Oleoylethanolamide?

Oleoylethanolamide is a fat-derived signaling molecule made in the small intestine after eating. Ours is 98% pure.

It’s related to anandamide but doesn’t bind cannabinoid receptors.

Mechanism of action

OEA activates PPAR-alpha, a nuclear receptor that raises fat burning, and signals fullness to the brain through the vagus nerve. It also binds GPR119.

Its levels in the gut rise after fatty meals.

Published Oleoylethanolamide research

Rodriguez de Fonseca and colleagues reported in Nature (2001) that OEA reduced food intake in rats. Fu’s 2003 Nature paper showed it acted through PPAR-alpha.

Small human trials have looked at appetite and fat metabolism.
