About 4-Andro

4-Andro is 4-androstene-3-beta-ol-17-one, a prohormone that converts to testosterone. It’s closely related to androstenedione.

It’s on the WADA prohibited list.

How it works

4-Andro is converted to testosterone by 17-beta-HSD. Because testosterone can aromatize, some of it becomes estradiol.

That’s why it’s often paired with an aromatase inhibitor in stacks.

Research on this family, including studies on androstenedione by King and colleagues in JAMA (1999), found that much of the material turned into estrogen as well as testosterone.

Using 4-Andro in the lab

Research in this area usually measures lean mass, strength and hormone markers, plus liver enzymes and lipids. Prohormones convert to active steroids in the body, so measuring the metabolites tells you more than measuring the parent compound.

Natural anabolics such as ecdysteroids and plant compounds act through different receptors from steroids, which is why they’re often compared against them.
