ACE-031 is a powerful muscle-regulating peptide/protein designed to block biological signals that restrict muscle growth. Its ability to interfere with myostatin and related pathways has made it one of the most interesting compounds ever investigated for increasing lean muscle mass.
Unlike many research peptides, ACE-031 has progressed into human clinical trials, providing substantially more evidence than many compounds in the research-peptide market.
Product Information
ACE-031 is a soluble form of activin receptor type IIB (ActRIIB). It binds myostatin and other negative regulators of muscle mass, reducing their ability to suppress skeletal muscle development.
How Does It Work?
ACE-031 binds myostatin and related ligands involved in limiting muscle growth, effectively removing an important biological brake on muscle development.
Benefits
Promotes Lean Muscle Growth
ACE-031 has demonstrated a direct ability to increase lean body mass. In a controlled human study, the highest tested single dose produced a 3.3% increase in total lean body mass and a 5.1% increase in thigh muscle volume at day 29.
Targets the Myostatin Pathway
Rather than simply stimulating muscle activity, ACE-031 attacks the pathway responsible for suppressing muscle development. That makes it especially attractive for research into muscle-wasting and muscle-growth mechanisms.
Supports Muscle Size
Preclinical work has shown substantial increases in skeletal-muscle mass following ActRIIB blockade, including increases across multiple muscle groups.
Supports Muscle Strength Research
Newer 2026 research in common marmosets found increases in lean mass, muscle-fiber cross-sectional area, and ex vivo muscle force following ACE-031 treatment.
Side Effects
Human trials reported injection-site reactions, epistaxis (nosebleeds) and telangiectasias (small visible blood vessels). Safety concerns contributed to discontinuation of clinical development.
Dosage
Human clinical research evaluated single subcutaneous ACE-031 doses from 0.02–3 mg/kg. A separate Duchenne muscular dystrophy study evaluated 0.5 mg/kg every four weeks and 1 mg/kg every two weeks. These are historical clinical-study regimens, not recommended consumer dosing.
